District 90 gets good news

The Pontiac District 90 board of education met Monday night, and aside from presenting a balanced budget for the next fiscal year, they also got some more good news.

School Superintendent Jon Kilgore said this news was good after the months of holding their breath awaiting education funding from Springfield.

“We were excited to see we had an increase, a significant increase, of numbers of students taking advance placement courses, as well as dual credit, but it was very significant in advance placement. In fact, we have almost doubled our advance placement enrollment in the last two years. I should be careful in saying it’s a double amount of students, because it could be one student taking additional AP courses. But we have doubled the number of student enrollment in that, so we are excited about that,” Kilgore said.

Kilgore was a guest on a recent community forum, which can be found in the podcast section at WJEZ.com.
