The Cubs lost 8-1 at Tampa Bay to end their seven-game win streak. The Cubs maintain a 3 1/2-game lead over the Brewers in the National League Central race. The series ends tonight in Tampa as the Cubs send Jake Arrieta to the hill while the Rays give the ball to Zach Davies.

 

The White Sox fell 4-3 in Houston. The Sox try to salvage a win tonight with Carson Fulmer on the mound against Astros lefty Dallas Keuchel.

 

The Cardinals routed the Reds 9-2 as Paul DeJong and Dexter Fowler hit back-to-back homers and Matt Carpenter also went yard. The Cards close to 2 1/2 games behind the Rockies in the National League wild card race and five games behind the Cubs in the division race. The series concludes tonight at Great American Ball Park as Carlos Martinez starts for the Cardinals against the Reds’ Homer Bailey in a match-up of right-handers.

 

The NFL’s Thursday night feature finds the Los Angeles Rams visiting the San Francisco 49ers.
