The Pontiac Kiwanis met Wednesday and club member, former congressman Tom Ewing, invited Livingston County State’s Attorney Randy Yedinak to speak to the group.
Yedinak addressed subjects, such as combating the truancy issues the county has, cleaning up the parks and making them safer, the advent of a new drug court coming to the county hopefully in a few months, and fighting the ever growing drug problem.
“Generally what we’re doing is it all starts, a lot of times, with a traffic stop. An individual gets pulled over for speeding or whatever and they find drugs in the car. That person then is a valuable source because we turn them, ultimately, into someone who works with police to identify where they got the drugs, then ultimately, help us get to those people who are dealing the drugs. That’s where a lot of our help comes from. Oftentimes we also use those individuals to introduce our undercover officers to the drug dealers, so now they’re dealing directly to the police. That’s generally how those investigations start,” Yedinak said.
