The Chicago Cubs are on the brink of winning a second straight National League Central Division title by crushing the St. Louis Cardinals 10-2. The Cubs can clinch tonight with a win or a Milwaukee Brewers loss. The Cardinals remain 2.5 games behind the Colorado Rockies for the final National League playoff berth.

 

The White Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-2.

 

The New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge is the new rookie homerun king, he hit his 49th and 50th homers to break Mark McGwire’s rookie homerun record.

 

Illinois State volleyball swept Evansville in three sets. ISU’s Courtney Pence was named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week and teammate Stef Jankiewicz was named MVC Freshman of the Week.

 

Redbird football has cracked the top 10 in this week’s FCS Coaches Poll after their win over Missouri State. ISU comes in at number 8 in that poll and up two spots to 12 in the STATS FCS Top 25.
