Precision Planting coming to Pontiac

The Pontiac City Council approved a redevelopment agreement with Precision Planting, an agricultural research-centered group.

Mayor Bob Russell explained the company and said they will move the center to Pontiac and lease the city owned land next to the new Hampton Inn along South Deerfield Road.

“They now are going to have a research center there, where farmers and other people interested in agriculture can go out and look at this equipment. The new planting techniques they have are just amazing. When I saw the video and saw what they can do. They’re going to have groups in from literally around the world, but mostly the US. They’re going to have different farm groups in. It’s called a sand box. You’ll actually be able to use the equipment and see how it works. But for the city, what it means is there will be thousands of people coming here to see this, to go through these seminars. Because of that, that will spill over to all of our restaurants, our hotels, our businesses and that’s a really good thing for our city,” Russell said.

Russell was a guest on a recent Community Forum, where he further explains this and other things that happened during the most recent City Council meeting.
