The Dwight Fire Protection District is holding a Fire Prevention Open House from 5 to 8 Tuesday at the department.

Lt. Steven Bradley said the event will include activities for children, including a ride on the fire engine, a splash house and a visit with Smokey Bear. Other activities include an extrication demonstration and safety trailer presentation.

“As a fire department, we discuss fire prevention activities they can do in their homes. This year’s main topic is what we call EDITH Drills, which exit drills in the home, which is knowing the way out of the home, get out, stay out and have two exits in case the first one is blocked. So that is our focus this year,” Bradley said.

The department is located at 111 South Prairie Street in Dwight.
