Halloween safety tips

Halloween is right around the corner and with it comes safety tips for children and adults alike.

Every year, children are reminded to stay with groups, wear reflective costumes and check candy before eating it. At the same time, adults need to take precautions.

Pontiac Police Chief Jim Woolford said, especially while driving, adults need to pay extra attention to their surroundings.

“If you’re in an area where there’s a lot of porch lights on, you’re going to have kids going house to house. Often, they lose track of the surroundings and will just sprint across the road to catch up with friends to hit another house. Car traffic is definitely one to be very wary of. We don’t have a history of traffic crashes on Halloween and we don’t want to start one,” Woolford said.

Woolford was a guest on a recent community forum, which can be found at wjez.com.
