The Fall Classic was just that last night. Game 2 of the World Series went to the Astros 7-6 in 11 innings over the Dodgers. Houston rallied for runs in the eighth and ninth innings to send the game to extras, and a two-run homer from George Springer in the top of the 11th held up. The game featured a World Series-record eight home runs, including four by the Astros in their final three frames. Games 3, 4 and 5 are in Houston starting tomorrow night.
High school volleyball regional championships are on the line tonight. In Class 3A, U-High and Central Catholic face off tonight at Prairie Central High School. In Class 2A, a pair of all-Heart of Illinois Conference title matches include Tri-Valley at El Paso-Gridley and Tremont at Dee-Mack. Flanagan-Cornell plays Milford for the title at Grant Park in Class 1A.
The Blues beat the Calgary Flames 5-2.
Illinois Wesleyan is the coaches favorite to win the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in women’s basketball this season. The Titan men are picked fourth, with Augustana the national runner up last year picked to win the league.
