Operation Snowflurry, a semi-annual event that for 4th and 5th graders throughout the county, is happening Saturday at Pontiac Central School from 8:30 to 2.
Joe Vaughan, executive director of IHR, which sponsors the event, describes its purpose.
“Basically, what we’re trying to do is have a program that teaches kids you can live a drug free life and still have fun and enjoy your life without taking part in drugs. So, it’s a drug prevention program, but it’s also a leadership type of program, too. We teach leadership skills, communication skills, how to be assertive. It’s a day full of lots of different types of activities with some drug prevention sprinkled in. But, it’s much more than that, I see,” Vaughan said.
The cost is $10 at the door, and scholarships are available. Lunch and a T-shirt will be provided. For more information, contact IHR at 844-6109.
