Some changes are being made throughout Pontiac School District 429, beginning with the transfer of Washington School Principal Josh DeLong to a district position.
Superintendent Brian Dukes said DeLong has taken the position of director of curriculum instruction and professional development and described a bit of what that job means.
“The first job that he’s going to have is coaching our teachers and really making sure we’re using best practice for instruction, which then, in turn, gives us that student engagement piece in making sure our students are getting the top education they can get. So, he’s got a lot of work ahead of him and he and I have been talking for weeks, planning out how this is going to look in the next year or two and into the future. It’s something that the research just shows the impact that it has on students,” Dukes said.
The job opening for principal has been posted and Dukes hopes to start the interview process after fall break.
