In high school basketball, Prairie Central edged Watseka 54-52, Tri-Point nipped Lexington 47-46, Woodland lost by 2 at LaMoille 52-50. In girls basketball Pontiac came up short at Flanagan-Cornell 44-26. Dwight lost to Newark 61-37.  Pontiac’s started its wrestling seasons falling to Clifton Central 56-22 and to Coal City 58-16. Giovani Romero had two pins for the Indians, who will host Herscher and Streator tonight.

Illinois took its first loss in the Brad Underwood are last night in the ACC-Big 10 Challenge. The Illini fell to Wake Forest 80-73.

The Bears will face Eastern Illinois alum Jimmy Garoppolo on Sunday when the San Francisco 49ers come to Solider Field. Garoppolo came off the bench for an injured C.J. Beathard last week in the Niners’ loss to Seattle.
