In girls basketball last night, Dwight lost to Paxton-Buckley-Loda 43-34. Prairie Central won at Olympia 32-28. Lexington downed Dee-Mack 39-32. Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland lost to GCMS 43-26 at Flanagan. El-Paso-Gridley turned back Fisher 54-32. Fieldcrest emerged victorious over Tri-Valley 49-45 at Minonk. Ridgeview rolled over LeRoy 49-21.

 

Illinois opens Big 10 play tonight at Northwestern tonight.

 

The Illinois State women maintain their perfect home record downing SIU-Edwardsville 62-47 at Redbird Arena. Viria Livingston led the Redbirds with a career high 17. ISU improves to 3-2 and will host Butler Sunday afternoon.

 

The man who called the offensive plays during Illinois State football’s run to the national title game three years ago is coming to the Redbird sidelines. Kurt Beathard has been named the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

 

Redbird senior defensive back Davontae Harris has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine game, a showcase for the nation’s top college seniors. It is set for Jan. 20 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

 

ISU volleyball swept its opening match in the National Invitational championship against IUPUI. The Redbirds play host Green Bay tonight.

 

The Dallas Cowboys crushed Washington 38-14.

 

The Central Illinois Flying Aces host the Sioux City Stampede tonight. 

 

The Dallas Stars scored in the first minute of overtime to overcome the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3.

 

The Bulls gave up a layup in the final seconds of a 111-110 loss at Denver. It was Chicago’s seventh straight loss.
