Illinois women’s basketball turned back Indiana State 81-52 on Thursday at State Farm Center.

 

Illinois State women’s basketball trailed by seven and led by 10 in a back-and-forth contest, but lost 61-59 in overtime at Milwaukee on Thursday night.

 

Fighting Illini women’s volleyball continues its NCAA run into the Sweet 16 today at State College, Pa. as they face Michigan State.

 

In girls high school basketball, Pontiac defeated Olympia 52-33, while Ridgeview, GCMS and Fieldcrest posted Heart of Illinois Conference wins.

 

Boys high school basketball tonight features Pontiac visiting Olympia at 7:25 on Classic Hits 98.9. Illini men’s basketball is at UNLV tomorrow with a 10 a.m. pre-game on WJEZ.

 

The Bulls are in Charlotte tonight to face the Hornets.

 

The Blues shut out the Dallas Stars 3-0. The Blackhawks host the Buffalo Sabres tonight.

 

Several local residents are members of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame class for 2018. The IBCA announced its class Thursday. Coaches selected include Debbie Coffman of Central Catholic and Mia Smith of Illinois Wesleyan, while Terry Lootens was chosen in the Career Coach category for his work at Heyworth and University High. Joe Galvin of Bloomington and Illinois State was chosen as a player, as were Amber Shelton Allan and Sara Stevenson of Illinois State.  Illinois Wesleyan’s national championship teams, the 1997 men and the 2012 women, were also selected for induction. The annual IBCA Hall of Fame Banquet is on May 5, 2018 at Redbird Arena.
