Pontiac High School has rolled out this year’s Hall of Fame class. It includes the Indians’ 2007 state quarterfinal football team, former basketball and volleyball standout Lindsay Freidman, former all -state cross country and track and field star Steve Jones, football and baseball standout Jeremy Sterzik and the late football team physician William Hough. The inductees will be honored before the Pontiac boys basketball game against El Paso-Gridley on Feb. 3.

 

The Fighting Illini picked up an easy win over Longwood, 92-45, at State Farm Center. Aaron Jordan scored a career high 22 points and team-best eight rebounds in his first start subbing for an injured Leron Black.

 

In high school basketball last night, Fieldcrest cruised past Kewanee 69-38 at the Colmone Classic at Spring Valley.

 

The Cardinals have landed a middle of the lineup power bat while dealing one of their veterans. The Cards have reached agreement with the Marlins for outfielder Marcell Ozuna, a two-time gold glover who hit 37 homes last year. The Cards sent Stephen Piscotty to Oakland for a pair of minor leaguers.

 

The Bulls picked up their fourth straight win, 103-100 over the Utah Jazz.

 

Illinois State junior Courtney Pence has been named an honorable mention All-American in volleyball, while teammate Jaeyln Keene was named a Second-Team Senior CLASS Award All-American, CLASS stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.
