In high school basketball Dwight lost to Reed Custer 80-49. The Trojans were led by Dakota Wahl with 11 points, Morgan Fritz added 8, Cole Hahn and Cal Schultz both posted 7. The Trojans visit Pontiac on Friday night. El Paso-Gridley handled Prairie Central 77-57, Ridgeview romped over Cornerstone of Bloomington 74-44.

 

In girls play, Lexington lost to Tremont 54-50. LeRoy edged Prairie Central 41-39.

 

Illinois State edged Illinois Chicago 71-70 at Redbird Arena. Milik Yarbrough paced the redbirds with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists. ISU improves to 6-6. The Birds open Missouri Valley Conference play Saturday afternoon at Evansville.

 

The Illinois State women close out the non-conference schedule in California today as they take on Long Beach State for the first match of the Beach Classic Tournament in Long Beach.

Normal Community is looking for a new football coach as Wes Temples announced his resigning following a highly successful 10-year run as coach. He led the Ironmen to five Big 12 titles. Temples says he plans to pursue a master degree in hoping of someday becoming an athletic director.

 

ISU senior defensive back Davontae Harris and senior defensive tackle Dalton Keene have been named to the STATS FCS All-America Team.

 

The Bloomington Edge has announced the signing of a former defensive back from Ole Miss. Tee Shepard played for the Arizona Rattlers in indoor football last season.
