In girls basketball – host Dwight took down Momence 51-35. Fieldcrest rolled to a 62-21 win over LeRoy. El Paso-Gridley fell to Eureka 68-46.

 

The Illini will try against for their first Big Ten win tomorrow as the visit Ann Arbor, Michigan for a matchup with the Michigan Wolverines. An early start, we being with a 10 a.m. pregame. Our next high school basketball comes next Monday with Tri-Point taking on Iroquois West.

 

The Illinois State women’s basketball team will take to the road this weekend as they travel to Valparaiso tonight and Loyola on Sunday.

 

The Illinois State football program has found its new defensive coordinator, as head coach Brock Spack announced the hiring of former ISU defensive lineman and Redbird assistant coach Travis Niekamp on Thursday. Niekamp, who previously served as outside linebacker, safeties and defensive tackles coach for coach Todd Berry at Illinois State (1998-99), returns as defensive coordinator and defensive line coach for the Redbirds.

 

Former Illinois State University baseball star Paul DeJong is the headliner for this year’s Cardinals Caravan stop in Bloomington-Normal.  DeJong is among a half-dozen current and former Cardinals who will appear January 13th at the Parke Regency Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington. Cardinal broadcaster Ricky Horton is the emcee for the program.
