We have a high school basketball feature tonight in the Illini Prairie as Prairie Central plays host to Olympia. Marc Strauss will be at courtside for the 7:30 tip.
 
In girls basketball last night, Pontiac fell to Central Catholic 67-49 in Bloomington.
 
At the McLean County/Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament in Bloomington, Fieldcrest lost to top- seed GCMS 67-41. Deer Creek-Mackinaw beat Tremont. In the HOIC girls tournament at Eureka College, Lexington stunned top-seeded Heyworth, 42-32. El Paso Gridley bested Tremont 43-34, Eureka downed GMCS 67-40 and Ridgeview was a 53-21 winner over LeRoy.
 
Illinois suffered another heartbreaking loss. Already with three Big Ten losses in overtime, the Illini fell to Nebraska 64-63 on James Palmer Jr.’s  3-pointer just before the buzzer. This came moments after Michael Finke had converted a four-point play with eight seconds left to give Illinois the lead. The Illini falls to 0-6 in the Big Ten, 10-9 overall. The Illini visit the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday.
 
The Chicago Bulls defeated Miami 119-111.
 
The Normal CornBelters have announced former Major Leaguer Jim Edmonds will take part in the third annual Legends Game at The Corn Crib on August 4. Edmonds played 17 seasons, most of them with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he won eight Gold Gloves, was named to four All-Star teams and won a World Series title in 2006.
