The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions for the first time, scoring three times in the fourth quarter in a thrilling 41-33 win over the defending champion-New England Patriots in Minneapolis. Backup quarterback Nick Foles was named Super Bowl MVP. He threw three touchdown passes and caught a touchdown pass on a fourth down trick play late in the first half. The game set a Super Bowl and playoff record for total offense 1,151 yards.

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson was one of two men killed yesterday when a suspected drunk driver struck them as they stood outside their car along a highway in Indianapolis. Jackson was 26.
