The Livingston County Farm Bureau, WJEZ and the Central Illinois Farm Network hosted a candidate forum Tuesday night at The Eagle Performing Arts and Conference Center.

Kristy Masching is seeking re-election for County Clerk. She is running unopposed. Masching has been County Clerk for 15 years and gave some insight into new plans for the office.

“We have some new ideas that we’re going to incorporate. There’s a property fraud alert for our recording system. Like to start scanning more documents and just carry on providing good service for the citizens of the county,” Masching said.

Mary Nicole “Nikki” Meier is running unopposed for County Treasurer. She described her plans once she takes office.

“I’d like to send tax bills by email if possible. We’ve had a lot of requests for that. I’m not sure how realistic it is. I’d have to consult with the assessor’s office and IT, but that is something I’d like to look into. We have scanned some of the old collector books already, because they weren’t stored properly and it resulted in mold. So, we’d like to get more of those scanned, if possible,” Meier said.

Interviews with County Sheriff candidates Jack Wiser and Tony Childress appear in a separate story.
