When it’s time to apply for Social Security, it may seem like a daunting task.
The Social Security Administration offers an account on its website called My Social Security, which helps with aspects of Social Security, including estimating payments, earnings history and more.
Jack Myers with the Social Security Administration explains how to start a My Social Security account.
“There are a couple of different ways that you can get an estimate. You can look for what we call our Retirement Estimator, or you can also create your My Social Security account. Once you create that account, you can look at your statement, which will also show you your earnings history and that’s very important, because your earnings history is what is used to determine your benefit amount,” Myers said.
