The Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County is holding a Beer and Wine Tasting Fundraiser Friday at the Walton Centre in Fairbury, beginning at 6 p.m.
CEO Jody Martin said this fundraiser is specifically looking to raise funds for a very new program for the club.
“Our STEAM Program, which is science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, so when we look at STEAM itself, it takes the people to put it on, and that’s the staffing, but it also takes the purchasing of the robots and the kits. So, I put a budget together for our STEAM for a year and what it would cost us if we ran it the way we want to. And that is to have a robotics team for the high school age, and also start kits off for the younger kids starting at 5. So if we were able to purchase the kits and go all the way up to high school, the budget is $135,000,” Martin said.
The evening is hosted by Dave’s Supermarket and Destihl Brewery. Food and an auction are offered, as well as a cash bar.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Boys and Girls Clubs in Pontiac and Fairbury, Dave’s Supermarket and Popejoy’s in Pontiac and Fairbury or at the door the night of the event.
