The Pontiac Bloodmobile will be at the Pontiac VFW from 11 to 5 Wednesday, and donations are always needed, especially during this National Red Cross Month.
Chairperson Dixie Vogel talks about the impact blood donation makes on the world.
“Everybody probably has a story and it’s good to tell it and you understand how important it is for you to come give blood and share that so other people can go ahead and have their babies come home from the hospital or their husbands or their grandmothers or whatever. It’s just a lifesaving thing,” Vogel said.
Vogel said that donors sometimes find out exactly how their donation saved a life.
“It’s a nice postcard and I’ve seen them. They guys have brought them back and showed me and sometimes they’ve gotten a call. I’ve had one instance where a son donated – a young kid had donated – and he got this postcard and it told him about how his blood had helped save this life,” Vogel said.
