A police chase that snaked its way through Pontiac ended when the vehicle lost control on Route 23 and slid down in the valley at the base of the Interstate 55 overpass.

According to a press release from the Pontiac Police, Illinois State Police put out a dispatch for a 2007 Audi that fled from a traffic stop on Interstate 55 near Lexington. Pontiac Police were able to locate 20-year-old Rolando Wilson of Hazel Crest near the I-55 construction zone at mile post 199. When officers approached the vehicle, it quickly drove through the median and proceeded back southbound before exiting into Pontiac.

A vehicle pursuit was initiated based on Wilson’s continued reckless driving. Officers followed north on Route 23 before the vehicle lost control near the I-55 overpass.

During the chase, the two vehicles made contact, causing minor damage to both.

Wilson was taken into custody and given a $25,000 bond, and posted 10 percent to be released Wednesday.

Wilson was charged with a Class 4 Felony of aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, as well as multiple other misdemeanor traffic citations. He will be seen in court for a preliminary hearing April 23.
