Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Robert B McKenzie Scholarship from the Vermillion Players.
Board member Liz Vincent explains why they offer this scholarship.
“Vermillion Players Board of Directors – we feel really strongly about educating and educating the participants of our programs, and as an extension of that, we decided to start offering a scholarship. Back in 2015, we offered our first year of scholarships and we gave away four scholarships and we gave away four scholarships for $250. Then we started really fundraising specifically for the scholarships, and the next year in 2016, we were able to give away eight $500 scholarships. So, we really appreciate our patrons for helping us with that. The next year, 2017, we gave away 9 $500 scholarships, but that was the year it became the Robert B. McKenzie Scholarship,” Vincent said.
This scholarship awards graduating high school seniors who have been involved in Vermillion Players during their high school careers, both onstage and off. Scholarships are due no later than April 16 and can be found in local high school guidance offices. Visit vermillionplayers.com for more information.
