The Livingston County Mental Health Board meets monthly and puts together budgets from tax levy money, but what exactly does that entail?
Executive Director Chris Myers explains that the board is split into two separate boards and helps several agencies in the county.
“Under the 708 funding, which is for mental illness, substance abuse and developmental disability, we fund services at the Institute for Human Resources, which we know as IHR, Futures Unlimited, and a domestic violence and sexual assault agency. The funding that goes for the services can’t be used for services that have another funding stream, such as state grants, federal grants or people’s insurance. So this is for those services that do not have any other funding. The 377 Board, the care and treatment for persons with developmental disability, we fund some other services at Futures Unlimited, also some funding at Mosaic homes and the 0 to 3 program at OSF Hospital,” Myers said.
Myers was a guest on a recent Community Forum, where she further details what the board does. That is available at wjez.com.
