Sheriff’s deputies responded to rural Pontiac late Saturday evening after an EMS call of a person who was shot with a gun.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department, upon arrival, deputies determined it to be a crime scene and contacted county detectives. After being made aware of a possible domestic situation with one of the subjects shot with a handgun, the victim was transported to St. James and later transported to OSF Saint Francis Hospital in Peoria.
Childress said Jeff Wallace was taken into custody and transported to the Livingston County Jail. He was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, which is a Class 4 felony, and is currently awaiting court proceedings.
The incident is under investigation by the county detectives. Additional assistance came from Illinois State Police, Pontiac Police and the Livingston County State’s Attorney’s office.
