The Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraising for local staple Oscar Gorbet began recently and he says he’s excited for the summer events that are planned.
Last year, Gorbet wrote the MDA a check for $15,500, his biggest check the entire ten years he’s been collecting, and he’s looking forward for another season.
“Makes me feel good and when I get down there to the MDA summer camp, they’re just tickled to see me. I just really love it and I’ve been doing it for ten years,” Gorbet said.
Dustin Smith, vice president of First Financial Bank Pontiac Branch, lists the immediate places people can donate to Gorbet during the next few months.
“First and most important to him is the American Legion Speedway every Saturday night. He does a very good job of collecting donations out there. Also, on May 5, ACE Hardware in Pontiac will be doing a BBQ cookout and raising money for the MDA and throughout the mornings in June, you’ll find him set up at Casey’s General Store in Pontiac collecting donations,” Smith said.
