A Grundy County drowning is currently under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s department, Illinois State Police and Grundy County Coroner.

According to a press release from Coroner John Callahan, the deceased subject was taken from a pond at Route 6 and Seneca Road at about 6 p.m. Thursday.

While the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Callahan said the death could be related to a traffic crash that occurred several months ago at the Seneca exit. The driver in that crash had never been found.

The incident remains under investigation.
