In softball, the tandem of Regan Krause and Amanda Fox combined on another no-hitter for Pontiac in a 5-0 win over Streator. Krause struck out 13 in five innings, Fox fanned five in the final two frames.

Fieldcrest topped El Paso-Gridley, 3-1, in a first-round Class 2A Regional game at Minonk.

In baseball, Pontiac scored five runs in the sixth inning as the Indians overcome a five-run deficit to outscore Streator, 14-12. Eric Watson homered and doubled for PTHS.

In the regionals, Dwight rallied from an eight-run deficit to force extra innings, only to fall to Gardner-South Wilmington, 11-10, in 10 innings in a Class 1A regional game. The Panthers pushed across the winning run on a bases-loaded single.

Fieldcrest whitewashed Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell, 10-0, in a regional game at Eureka. Derek May pitched a two-hitter.

Ridgeview defeated Cornerstone Christian, 3-1, in the 1A Blue Ridge Regional at Colfax.

Chicago Cubs starter Jose Quintana gave up three homeruns in a 6-5 makeup game loss to the Braves at Wrigley Field. The two teams now head to Atlanta for a two game series.

The St. Louis Cardinals continue their road trip on Tuesday night at Minnesota.

The Chicago White Sox return to action at Pittsburgh.

The Normal CornBelters play their first road series of the season with the first of three daytime games at the Lake Erie Crushers.

Illinois State junior shortstop Owen Miller has been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. Miller went 10-of-14 for the week at the plate, including a five-hit effort in the weekend finale in which he hit for the cycle in a win over Valparaiso.

Normal West basketball standout Francis Okoro has announced he’s head to Oregon. Illinois and Purdue were among the school’s vying for the 6-foot-9 All-Stater.

The NBA Western Conference finals opened with defending champion Golden State taking it to Houston, 119-106.

Vegas evened the NHL Western Conference finals with a 3-1 win over Winnipeg.
