PTHS Earth Science Teacher Paul Ritter
State Representative Tom Bennett has put the work of one Pontiac High School teacher in the state’s permanent record. Bennett recently recognized PTHS Earth Science teacher Paul Ritter for his work in restoring Alligator Snapping Turtle populations in Illinois. Speaking on the Illinois House Floor, Bennett praised Ritter for his work to affect the present as well as the future. “We recognize Paul Ritter’s important efforts to restore the population of the Alligator Snapping Turtle back to healthy levels,” Bennett said on the Illinois House floor. “We admire his steadfast drive to inspire future generations to be good stewards of the environment.” Ritter is best known for his work in guiding the P2-D2 drug disposal program. That initiative makes sure that unused prescription drugs are disposed of properly. It began in Pontiac and is now in place in communities across the United States as well as other countries.
