LIVINGSTON – The Livingston County Board recently recognized a number of law enforcement officers who work to keep the area safe from criminals.
Speaking with WJEZ’s Todd Wineburner, Livingston County Board Chair Bob Young explained the board is glad they can honor the people who put themselves into dangerous situations.
Listen to Todd Wineburner talk with Livingston County Board Chair Bob Young:
“We were really pleased and happy to do it. Sheriff Childress had several officers and people he was able to recognize for great service,” said Young.
Young said it’s important to celebrate the work local officers do in order to make sure residents can rest easy.
“We need to recognize that publicly because they do that all the time,” Young explained.
The board also approved the Prevailing Wage, a yearly resolution government agencies have to pass in order to outline what is to be paid for what work has been done. Young noted the first vote ended in a tie, resulting in the board giving the resolution a second look to avoid any penalties.
“It’s really something we have to do. If we don’t do it, the state could withhold some of the funding that we get and we can’t afford that,” Young said. “Upon a second review and a second vote it passed, so we are under the prevailing wage guideline.”
Young also said next month’s schedule will be pushed back a week due to July 4.
