PONTIAC – The Livingston County Health Department is reminding parents to schedule physicals for their children going back to school in the fall.
LCHD Health Education and Marketing Director Erin Fogarty explained returning students should get their physicals prior to the start of the school year and make sure their medical records are up-to-date.
“We will see any student from [grades] K-12, as well as those entering college,” Fogarty said. “Those individuals that are needing things like their meningitis vaccine and things like that for college, we’re able to provide their physicals and immunizations as well.”
Fogarty noted physicals are routine for young students. Checking in on how their bodies are functioning is critical to ensuring the kids are healthy.
“What they can expect is a recording of their height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, as well as BMI,” said Fogarty. “We also check the functions of the heart, lungs, lymph nodes, abdomine, skin, eyes, ears, nose, throat, all of those fun things.”
Physicals can be scheduled by calling LCHD at (815) 844-7174.
