Pontiac District 90 Superintendent Jon Kilgore says the district’s fiscal situation is good and getting better. The District 90 board met Tuesday and heard the results of an audit conducted by Rick Phillips of Phillips and Associates, and Kilgore says the overall tone of the report was positive. The district’s overall status is improving because cash reserves are being steadily restored. “Due to some large capital projects which were planned,” Kilgore told WJEZ’s Todd Wineburner, “we have used a chunk of our reserves years ago.” Kilgore says the lower cash reserve totals worked against recent audits, but now, having rebuilt those reserves, the district is on the verge of being recognized for excellent fiscal performance. In talking about the audit, Kilgore praised District Bookkeeper Kelly Carter, as well as Tera Graves and Kathy Dunham of the LACC for their thorough preparation which, Kilgore says, allows the audit process to progress smoothly.
