The District 429 Board of Education met last week to discuss a positive audit report, a new language arts program and a new roofing project. According to the Pontiac Daily Leader, auditor Tim Curtis gave his report and said the district’s budget was in line with other schools across the state.  Superintendent Brian Dukes gave insight into a new program that could be adopted by the district’s English and Language Arts teachers.  The is based on introducing storytelling to classrooms. Dukes says the presence of storytelling allows kids to create a script and story and teaches them focused thinking and organization.  A trial period of the teaching style might be adopted later this year. In other items, plans are already in motion to work on the roof at Central School this summer.  Pricing on the roof replacement is still being finalized as the board hopes to hear those figures by next month.
