State Representative Tom Bennett (R-106th Legislative District) announced today (12/20) that he will seek re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives. Under the state’s new legislative maps, the 106th district will shift northward, but Bennett says he’ll continue to work on behalf of residents of rural communities. “I’m proud to work on issues important to this region,” Bennett says, “including improving roads and infrastructure, increased funding for K -12 schools, economic development, and supporting public safety.”
Bennett currently serves as Assistant Minority Leader in the Illinois House GOP and serves on education and public safety-related committees. Bennett started his career as a high school science teacher, then became an IT manager at State Farm Insurance. Bennett lives in Gibson City with his wife, Kathleen. They have two children and five grandchildren.
