A Program to Prevent Opioid-Related Deaths Scheduled at Cullom Library

A special event is scheduled for March 26th in Cullom that will help county residents deal with opioid-related crises. The Livingston County Health Department has joined forces with IHR to train individuals on how to deal with opioid overdoses, and to provide them with the naloxone they’ll need to administer. Naloxone is a drug that counteracts the effects of heroin and other opioids in the body.

The training is scheduled for the Cullom Beckman Memorial Library on Saturday, March 26th, from 10 until 1. From 10 to 10:30 there will be a seminar with Teresa Diemer from IHR and Erin Fogarty from the LCHD. The rest of the session will be focused on how to administer naloxone to anyone who may be overdosed on opioids. The training is open to the public.

Naloxone will be provided for session attendees. Naloxone kits are also available at the Health Department by appointment.
