Dr. Seuss a.k.a. Theodor Geisel is releasing a new book titled “What Pet Should I Get”. Yes, yes, I realize he died all the way back in 1991, but this never before released book has just been found! While cleaning out his office in 2013, his widow Audrey came across a box filled with manuscripts and illustrations by the iconic children’s author. Audrey estimates that the book was written by “Ted” between 1958 and ’62; hard to say since he was known to work on many projects at the same time. This and two other books are set for publication. The last Dr. Seuss book published was “Oh the Places You’ll Go” in 1990.
Do you have great Dr. Seuss memories? Having the books read to you or reading them to your own children and grandchildren? I have fond memories of my Grandma reading the books to me and my cousins, and my oldest daughter could sit and listen to “The B Book”, her nickname is “B”, over and over, but the fondest of all is listening to my late father read “Green Eggs and Ham” to my daughters. “I will not eat them in a house, I will not eat them with a mouse, I will not eat them in a box I will not eat them with a fox, I will not eat them here of there I will not eat them anywhere, I do not like green eggs and ham I do not like them Sam I am”. Then my girls would say, “Read it again, Grandpa!” Beautiful memories supplied by Dr. Seuss.
