The Pontiac City Council met last night and approved a large contract for work at the Pontiac airport.

Pontiac City Administrator Bob Karls explained that this new parallel taxiway would help aircraft get off the runway after they land. The million dollar project is expected to be out for bids in July with construction planned to commence in the fall.

In other business, a petition was approved for the City to join in with the State to petition the Commerce Commission for work to be done at the Reynolds Street train crossing.

“The actual design of that crossing with multiple traffic signals is going to be quite a project, but before the state and their contractors can proceed, they have to get permission from the Commerce Commission,” Karls said.

This morning’s Community Forum with Karls further detailing the meeting will be available at WJEZ.com later this morning.
