A statewide tornado drill is happening this morning at 10 a.m.

Pontiac Fire Chief Scott Runyon said the biggest thing people will notice the most about the drill is the outdoor tornado warning sirens will run for a full three minutes.

Runyon said tornado season is typically from the beginning of March through October, but as Livingston County has learned, tornados can happen any time of year. He suggests that being prepared is a good idea.

“Pay attention to your NOAA radios, watch the weather channel and listen. Biggest thing is be prepared. Make a plan, know where you’re going to go and have some supplies for yourself in case something happens,” Runyon said.
