The District 90 voted to accept the recommendation to accept a three-year agreement with Illinois Central Bus Company contingent on District 429 and Saunemin also approving the same agreement.
The agreement will be $317,000 for the first year, which Kilgore said would be significantly better than years prior.
“We’re looking it as being very fortunate that we’re reducing our cost with them and part of it is the three team consortium effort that helps drive costs down,” Kilgore said.
Kilgore said they have looked closely at bringing back in-house busing then negotiated with Illinois Central Bus and found it would still be a significant savings either way. They chose to go with Illinois Central Bus because of the great service provided in the past.
