Streator is kicking off its 30th year of celebrating Independence Day in style Saturday, with more than a week of activities planned.
Rob Tyne, one of the event organizers, said the eight days of events kicks off bright and early.
“We are starting off with the Run for Glory with starts at City Park at 8 a.m. It’s followed by a shoebox wagon parade on the third. They will walk with a band playing at the city band shell,” Tyne said.
There are events planned throughout the week, culminating with fireworks planned for July 9 and a carnival on the 10th.
