A former Dwight firefighter was sentenced Friday for one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 Felony.

According to a press release sent by Livingston County State’s Attorney Seth Uphoff, Kevin Holohan was convicted following a November bench trial, where testimony showed Holohan had committed an act of sexual conduct against a 7-year-old girl he was babysitting.

During sentencing, the State requested no less than five years in prison, while the court chose to sentence the defendant to three years of probation and 130 days in the county jail, for which he will have to serve 50 percent of the sentence. Holohan will also be required to register as a sex offender and is classified as a sexual predator.

Uphoff said while he would have liked to have seen a stronger sentence imposed, he can only hope the young girl will be able to move past this deplorable act.
