The CornBelters earned their fifth straight win, breaking a tie with a run in the ninth for a 6-5 win at Joliet. The Belters continue the series in Joliet with an 11:00 game this morning.
The Illinois State men’s basketball team will play games against at least five 2016 Division I postseason qualifiers, including three NCAA Tournament teams, and five opponents who won 20 or more games last season as part of the Redbirds’ 2016-17 non-conference schedule announced Tuesday. A home exhibition against Quincy is November 6, and the home opener is November 16 against IPFW.
The Reds beat the Cardinals 7-5 on a three-run homer by Scott Schebler to end the game. The squads rematch tonight in Cincinnati, right-hander Michael Wacha for the Cards against Reds lefty Cody Reed.
The Cubs topped the Marlins 3-2 behind six scoreless innings from Jason Hammel. The season series ends today at Wrigley Field with right-handers Tom Koehler for the Marlins and John Lackey for the Cubs the expected mound match-up.
The Tigers beat the White Sox 11-5, breaking open the game with a six-run fifth inning for their seventh straight win. On the mound tonight in Detroit are Chris Sale for the Sox and Michael Fulmer for the Tigers.
