The Cardinals fell to the Mets 7-4 despite New York starter Jonathan Niese lasting just four batters before leaving due to a knee injury. The rematch is tonight at Busch Stadium as Jacob de Grom faces Carlos Martinez on the hill.

The Cubs beat the Padres 5-3, holding off a three-run ninth-inning rally. Jake Arrieta gave up just two hits in eight scoreless innings for the win. Kyle Hendricks faces Paul Clemens in the rematch tonight in San Diego.

The White Sox pounded the Phillies 9-1 behind the fourth straight victory from Carlos Rodon. The brief interleague series concludes tonight on the South Side, Jerad Eickhoff against James Shields.

The CornBelters lost at Evansville 9-2 in the opener of a six-game road trip. Ty Morris and Dillon Haupt homered for the Belters runs. The middle game of the series is at 6:35 tonight on WJBC.com.

The Chiefs beat Wisconsin 5-4.

Pontiac volleyball beat Morris 25-20, 11-25, 25-21.
