When people are looking for ways to save money, the first place that can make a difference is in a person’s grocery shopping.
Pam Atkinson, consumer economics educator for the University of Illinois Extension, gave several tips on places to save while shopping during a recent community forum.
“Most people know to shop with a list and don’t go to the store hungry, so I went a little deeper for this one. For example, shop when you have a limited amount of time. Now, you have to get in, get your stuff and get out. That doesn’t leave you a lot of time to wander the store and fill your cart with a lot of those impulse buys,” Atkinson said.
