With Labor Day weekend beginning today for many, District 6 State Police in Pontiac is reminding motorists to make safety their number one priority during the holiday weekend.
According to Captain Steve Riesenberg, avoiding the fatal four is encouraged, as speeding, driving under the influence, distracted driving and failing to wear your safety belt are the four most common causes of fatal traffic crashes.
Illinois State Police will be monitoring speed on roadways, encouraging the designation of sober drivers, wearing seat belts and keeping your eyes on the road and not on your phone.
