The Livingston County Public Health Department kicks off their annual seasonal influenza and pneumonia vaccine clinics today.
Linda Rhodes, health education and marketing director for the department, describes what protection you get with your shot.
“This year, our vaccine has two types of an A strain and the vaccines can have one or two types of the B strain. If you get two As and one B, that’s called trivalent, and if you get two As and two Bs, that’s quadravalent. That’s what we’ll be using at the health department this year, so everyone who gets their flu shot at the health department will be protected against four strains of the flu,” Rhodes said.
This morning’s forum with Rhodes, where she details all the clinic locations, will be available in our podcast section later today.
