The Illinois Farm Bureau and the Illinois State Medical Society are pairing up to help medical students with scholarships to ultimately bring them to the rural areas.
Jody Hughes, Livingston County Farm Bureau manager, explains the program.
“This is called RIMSAP – The Rural Illinois Medical Student Assistant Program. So, if you’re looking at going into the medical field, this is basically a scholarship program. The point of the program is to bring doctors into the rural communities. So, there are some requirements and things. You do have to work in a rural community for a number of years, but we’ll help you out with those heavy medical school bills,” Hughes said.
