Pontiac Township High School Students will be busy working Friday, doing their part in keeping the environment healthy.

Environmental Science teacher Paul Ritter and some students were guests on a recent community forum to speak about the storm sewer stenciling project.

“We’re going to stencil the town, and basically, it’s a message that goes on the storm sewer. It basically says ‘Dump no waste – goes to river.’ We have a major part in how we can make the world a better place, not just Pontiac, Livingston County, but the entire world,” Ritter said.

Pontiac Street Superintendent Chris Brock talked about the special E-waste drive that is happening Friday, as well.

“Friday morning, by 7 a.m., everyone needs to have all the items they want to recycle to the curb and we’ll be bringing students around from Mr. Masching’s computer classes and they’ll be loading them up and we’ll be taking them to recycle. The only thing is, if your items are still there at 3:00, it will be your responsibility to take them back in the house. They can’t stay on the curb,” Brock said.

A complete list of items that are acceptable for the drive is available at Pontiac.k12.il.us.
