The final third of the high school football season opens tonight as Week 7 finds playoff berths on the line.
Our featured game on WJEZ-FM 98.9 is Pontiac (2-4, 1-3 Corn Belt) hosting Olympia (0-6, 0-4) with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. at Williamson Field. Other notable games include Dwight at Momence, Central Catholic at Prairie Central, Mahomet-Seymour at U-High and a crossover week in the Heart of Illinois Conference involving Ridgeview-Lexington at GCMS, Tri-Valley at Fisher, Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland at Eureka, Heyworth at Fieldcrest, Deer Creek-Mackinaw at LeRoy and Tremont at El Paso-Gridley.

Illinois hosts Purdue in Saturday Big Ten football with a 2:30 kick-off at Memorial Stadium on WJEZ-FM 98.9. Illinois State plays its Homecoming game at 2 p.m. Saturday against Youngstown State.
The Cubs open their post-season tonight at Wrigley Field against the Giants. Game 1’s pitching match-up is Jon Lester against Johnny Cueto. Game 2 is tomorrow night also in Chicago. The Nationals host the Dodgers this afternoon in the other National League Division Series opener.
The American League Division Series opened yesterday with Toronto’s 10-1 home win over Texas behind a three-run homer and four RBIs by Jose Bautista, followed by the Indians’ 5-4 win over the Red Sox in the other opener.
The Arizona Cardinals beat the 49ers 33-21 in the NFL Thursday night feature in San Francisco.
